Sunshine and Shadows

The sun shone today, at least it did after noon. Before that we were socked in with fog for the umpteenth day. This high pressure system is supposed to move out tonight, thank heavens. The air quality has sucked for a week.

Dead tree

Dead tree

The construction crew did the very last window today. The last one. Now they just have to do the punchlist work. Maybe we can use the community room again now. Yippee. Some folks practically live there while it’s open, this week has been hard on them.

It hasn’t been a bad day. I got some stuff done, but I swear that things crawl out of the woodwork. I do one thing and it’s replaced by two more. But, I guess that’s life.

Meanwhile, go see Mick’s blog.

He has a rather unique concept, taking one word and showing it in three different ways. It’s pretty neat.

Well, that ‘s the sunny stuff. As for the shadow, I can’t find my cell phone. It’s just a plain old pre-paid brickberry, no great loss, but it annoys me. When I call it all I get is a busy signal. If somebody is talking on it, it will run out of minutes soon, and then it will just be a brick. I just wish I knew if it was in the house or I dropped it somewhere else.

I took the same picture I put in my last blog post and took it to grayscale. A lot of photographers whose blogs I read are working in black and white lately, so I thought I would see what it would look like. It’s hard to believe it’s the same picture.

And that’s all the news from here. I’ll try to think of a story to tell you next time. I got a million of them, but of course, I can’t tell the best ones if I want to keep my head. And now I think I’ll do something unusual, and go to bed while it’s still dark.

  1. I like your shot of the dead tree, especially in b/w. When shooting portraits of people, I almost always use b/w, as it is far more expressive.

Wish I had something to say to cheer you up, but I’m down in the manic-depressive dumps myself. Don’t sweat the lists. I hope you find your phone.

And thanks for the gift Mick. It got here today. I can hardly wait to go out and play with it. I think it will come in handy next week for T-Shirt Friday.

  5. I like b/w photos too.

In your tree photo, what is that hanging from the lower branch?

Re: the phone – I have a tale about cell phone loss. I managed to “find” my elderD’s phone and get it recovered before she even knew she’d lost it. All without leaving my house.

Sometimes technology is wonderful, although most of the time it just sucks.

Good luck in your phone hunt.

It’s not actually hanging in the branch, Rob, it’s a sculpture that is some distance away. Maybe I’ll post a picture of it next.

  6. Sending spanish sunshine and snibbles … and apologies for slacking on the scrabble the past couple of days. It’s your turn.
